Fedora Project

This book is for any home user who has switched or is thinking of switching to Linux. Based on Red Hat's Fedora Core, "Linux for Non-Geeks avoids geeky subjects like server and network setup and concentrates on the subjects of interest to the average home user: Installation, the Internet, playing CDs and audio files, desktop customization, games, downloading software and fonts, USB storage devices, printing, and more. Readers with only basic experience with Windows or another Linux distribution will learn how to do everything on their Linux machine that they are used to doing with Windows. Includes a complete installation of Fedora Linux on two CDs.

Fedora Project - The Fedora Project is the organization responsible for producing Fedora Core and Fedora Extras. It is the result of a merger between the Red Hat Linux and old Fedora Linux projects in September 2003, and is officially sponsored by Red Hat, which has many employees working on the project's code.

Fedora Legacy - The Fedora Legacy project is a community-supported open-source project to provide updates for versions of Red Hat Linux and Fedora Core no longer officially supported by Red Hat. Currently, it has packages for Red Hat Linux 7.

Fedora Core - Fedora Core is an RPM-based Linux distribution, developed by the community-supported Fedora Project, sponsored by Red Hat. The name derives from Red Hat's characteristic fedora used in its "Shadowman" logo.

Fedora Foundation - The Fedora Foundation is an organization to which Red Hat has planned to grant authority of the community-led Fedora Linux development project. Red Hat general counsel Mark Webbink announced the plan at the June, 2005 Red Hat Summit in New Orleans.
